McDonalds, Motorola, and Interface slated to discuss getting to ‘green’
Local non-profit assembles corporate reps to discuss the drivers and business case for voluntary participation in environmental initiatives.
Chicago, IL (July 31, 2007) – Corporate representatives from McDonald’s, Motorola, and InterfaceFLOR will participate in a panel discussion at the Mid-America Club on August 24, 2007 to discuss Motivating Change: Drivers for Sustainability. Attendees are expected to be representatives from local corporate offices, as well as small and medium sustainable enterprises from the area. The event is sponsored by the Chicago Sustainable Business Alliance.
The panel will focus on the motivation for incorporating more environmentally-friendly and socially responsible practices into their operations. Public pressure, top-down commitment, potential future regulation, cost savings, non-profit activism, and new market growth are all potential influencing the move toward greater corporate sustainability.
The panel will spark discussion around the primary obstacles corporations face when responding to key drivers, as well as the business case for implementing change.
The event is the second in the quarterly series “Act Global, Think Local: Chicago Roundtable on Corporate Sustainability.” The gatherings are a response to the fact that Chicago is home to a wide variety of multinational corporations facing global pressure to incorporate greater environmental and social values into their operations. While international in scope, these corporations often have staff in their local headquarters working on global sustainability issues.
The Chicago Roundtable on Corporate Sustainability provides a forum for these individuals and related organizations to network, share their challenges and successes, and participate in a larger community.
The first event in the series, held in May, featured Philips Lighting, USG, Baxter Healthcare, and LaSalle Bank. An attendee at the May event said in the event evaluation, “This was the best networking event I've been to in the past 6 months!"
