1. In what ways has the Alliance been active so far?

The Alliance's activities on behalf of sustainable-minded enterprises in Chicago include:

• Initiating monthly Chicago Green Drinks: Business Edition networking events
• Developing and hosting Networking Breakfasts, Corporate Roundtables, and Workshops
• Participating on several City government “green business” advisory committees
• Forming connections with other area business organizations (e.g. Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, Chicago Manufacturing Center, Local First Chicago, Center for Sustainable Enterprise (IIT Stuart School of Business)
• Forming connections with the local international business community
• Creating a new online hub: www.sustainablechicago.biz
• Launching Chicago's Green Business Directory
• Serving as an informal referral service

2. Is the online profile an endorsement of members as sustainable businesses? 

The Alliance is not intended as a sustainable business certification system.  However, members must pledge their commitment to engaging in some level of sustainability activity appropriate to their industry.

The Alliance will act as a confidential intermediary between a member’s senior management and any parties submitting comments about possible misrepresentations in this profile.

3. How is the Alliance managed?

• The Alliance is administered by the Foresight Design Initiative, an Illinois-based, IRS-recognized, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
• All dues received by Foresight will be restricted to Alliance-related expenses.
• To provide direction and oversight, an Alliance steering committee has been formed with representatives from diverse sectors. Members listed below:
