It was an honor to attend the CSBA Nexus and gathering at the Haworth showroom on October 22nd. The event was wonderfully prepared, entertaining and educational. I met some extraordinary new contacts in the world of sustainability. Upon leaving, I felt like I was truly a part of the inspired and inspirational community we have in Chicago. The CSBA does great things, and I look forward to being a part of more of them!
Richard McGinnis, Mindful Metropolis
This was an excellent opportunity for the Distant Village Packaging design team to meet sustainable business leaders and engage in valuable sustainable packaging design discussions.
Rich Cohen, Distant Village Packaging
The Chicago business community is an important partner in achieving Mayor Daley’s goal to become the greenest city in the world. The CSBA's efforts to build the capacity of new enterprises that sell greener products and services, as well as to help existing businesses reduce the environmental impact of their operations, are key to making Chicago a model in sustainability to creating a more livable city for all our citizens.
Sadhu Johnston, Commissioner, City of Chicago Department of Environment
The CSBA's network has allowed me to participate in some great conversation about corporate sustainability. The diverse set of speakers I have engaged with at their events
has afforded me a greater understanding of other industries and the sustainability challenges that they have traversed. CSBA is an essential community for any sustainable business practitioner in Chicago.
Ruth Scotti, US Policy Manager, BP Future Fuels
Our membership in the CSBA has resulted in connections that have both reduced our costs and promoted our product. Thanks to the CSBA, we found a less expensive manufacturing space, as well as a new supply for our primary raw material -- recycled glass. We have also seen increased interest in InnerGlow as a result of CSBA networking and member promotion.
Jenna Obluck, Co-Founder, InnerGlow Surfaces
Months before my store has even opened, my presence in the Green Business Directory has been incredibly helpful. I have received calls from people who have found me through the directory and are interested in working for me, offering general support – even prospective customers wanting to know what I’m carrying!
Jessa Brinkmeyer, former Owner, Pivot Boutique
We recently held an event to increase our employees’ awareness of green building and sustainable business, and the CSBA was instrumental in identifying speakers who could explain these concepts to our team. Their connections and responsiveness were
high caliber.
Kim Fields, Director, Green Market Infrastructure Sector, Alcoa
We have been working on developing a strategy to encourage more green business activity in Denver, and came across the CSBA in our research. Their breadth of experience working with policy and incentive programs for the City of Chicago, as well as creating a voluntary network of businesses is unique, and has been very helpful in informing our own efforts.
Sarah McClean, Public Relations & Communications Manager, Downtown Denver Partnership
The CSBA is a critical resource for anyone starting up a new sustainable enterprise in Chicago. The visibility I have gained through the network is invaluable. My products are
now on display in another CSBA member’s store, and I have landed a significant new
design commission.
Lisa Elkins, Founder, 2 point perspective
I saw an ad for the CSBA and joined the organization a few days later, which led to my
being included in a feature magazine article, then speaking at the recent Green Business Conference. Through the CSBA, I have been validated, rewarded and connected to the
right people to build, grow and define my business.
