The Centre for Sustainability and Excellence (CSE) was founded in Athens, Greece, in 2004, by Nikos Avlonas, an international expert in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability. Utilizing international management frameworks—EFQM, GRI and CRI models—CSE incorporates social responsibility into the development of comprehensive sustainability and reporting strategies for its clients.

CSE North America opened its Chicago offices in March 2009, adding to its staff managing director Nick Andrews, previously a corporate responsibility reporting expert working as an affiliate in Europe. Through its network of offices in Chicago, Athens, Brussels and Cyprus, CSE offers clients expertise in sustainability management and reporting, climate change solutions, green and social cause marketing, CSR assurance and sustainable investments, performance management, and executive training.
